Joe Winters is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Winters Bros. Waste Systems – a leading provider of recycling and solid waste services on Long Island. Joe is extremely entrepreneurial having purchased his first company at the age of 25 years old. Since then, he has been involved with numerous start-up companies and the acquisition of more than 100 companies. His first venture began in 1994 in Vermont where he quickly grew his business to become the second largest solid waste company in the state. In 1998, Joe, along with his brothers, started a second business with one truck on Long Island. This company experienced rapid organic growth and acquisitions across Long Island.
His third large-scale business venture was in 2011 when he and other family members acquired the assets of multiple solid waste and recycling companies operating in the Western Connecticut and Hudson Valley marketplaces. In all cases, Joe oversaw and directed the rapid and strategic expansion of the businesses with a keen focus on customer service.
Today, Winters Bros. is the largest recycling and solid waste company on Long Island serving residential, commercial, industrial and municipal customers.
Joe’s skill and expertise in finance, accounting, strategic planning and marketing has led to a proven record of strategic development, operation, management and growth of strong and successful companies.
In addition to his business interests, Joe is actively involved in the community and serves on the Boards of Directors for Nassau-Suffolk Services for Autism (NSSA) and Pal-O-Mine both of which provide outreach, educational and therapy services to children and young adults with disabilities. Previously, Joe served as the President of the Board of Directors of Ascent Funding Organization, a childhood autism education, research and advocacy group operating in greater New York metropolitan area.
Joe is a former professional boxer and an avid golfer.
