ProfileAmy Maas is a Business Recycling Specialist for the Department of Environment and Energy in Hennepin County, Minnesota. She works on recycling, composting and waste-reduction initiatives with businesses through grants and assistance programs, and with county residents through the unique Zero Waste Household Challenge. She is working on ways to get businesses to waste less food and recently has kept busy with development and implementation of the county’s new commercial food scraps collection policy. She holds a degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Amy first stepped into the waste world as a Minnesota GreenCorps member and hasn’t stopped thinking about trash since then. Outside of work, she enjoys biking, cooking, gardening and taking too many pictures of fresh vegetables and her pets.
