Kari Armbruster leads the strategic direction and execution of Kroger’s moonshot Zero Hunger | Zero Waste social impact plan. In this role, she works closely with key internal and external stakeholders to launch, manage and measure initiatives that create meaningful progress toward Kroger’s goal to end hunger in our communities and eliminate waste across the company by 2025.
Kari joined Kroger in 2013 as the company’s corporate affairs and communications manager. In this role, she led strategic communications for key corporate initiatives, coordinated crisis communications and served as administrator and treasurer for the Kroger Political Action Committee (KroPAC). She was instrumental in the development and launch of Kroger’s innovative Zero Hunger | Zero Waste social impact plan, as well as the company’s commitment to eliminate single-use plastic bags across its enterprise.
Before joining Kroger, Kari served as a staff assistant to U.S. Senator Rob Portman and a legislative aide for the City of Cincinnati. Kari received a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics & the Public from Xavier University. She and her husband Aaron live in the Cincinnati area with their three children (Paul, George and Cecelia).
