Ron Romero has been with the City of Austin since 1999 and currently manages the Collections Division for Austin Resource Recovery. His division is responsible for trash and recycling collection for over 200,000 residential customers and approximately 2000 commercial customers. During his tenure with the department, Ron has held various positions from Administrative Specialist to Interim Assistant Director. Ron’s commitment and passion for Austin Resource Recovery’s Zero Waste goals and program initiatives continue to drive him daily. He received his bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts and Science from Texas State University. He is currently pursuing his Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies also at Texas State University. He is a native Austinite who loves the outdoors and working to keep Austin green. In his free time, Ron along with his wife Kathy, enjoy listening to live music, traveling, and volunteering at their church.
