Joe Burkel joined EcoSouth Services in 2020 and is responsible for the development and implementation of a company-wide culture of safety, service and efficiency while creating a platform of profitable growth for EcoSouth’s landfills, hauling operations and transfer stations throughout the Company’s operating area.
Joe has held various positions of increasing responsibility over almost 40 years of industry experience since beginning his career with a family owned company in Mobile, Alabama that was acquired by Waste Management. Joe has held numerous positions with the two largest publicly held solid waste companies and advanced to Division Manager of Republic Services’ Las Vegas market area with full P&L responsibility for the $600M business unit. Joe was subsequently promoted to the role of Corporate Vice President while at Republic Services.
After leaving the industry for a two-year period and prior to joining EcoSouth Services, Joe served as Chief Customer Officer for Autocar Trucks, one of the premier chassis manufacturers for the waste industry. This experience has provided more in-depth insight into vehicle design, specifications, procurement and maintenance to help drive efficient use of capital spending, reduce costs and improve customer service.
