Super Session: Challenges and Opportunities of EPR (Part 1)

  • Monday, May 09, 2022
  • 8:30 AM - 9:45 AM
  • Room: W213
  • Session Number: M114

Description

Who should be responsible for the lifecycle of a product? Taxpayers? Manufacturers? That is one of the hard-hitting debates surrounding extended producer responsibility (EPR) policies, which aim to shift the cost of residential recycling from taxpayers to product manufacturers. In this session, you’ll learn about two EPR policies that have been passed and implemented in the U.S., as well as the challenges and opportunities that come along with those policies. In addition you’ll learn about bottle bills and their role in EPR. Part one will feature insights from regulators and materials recovery facility operators, and part two will include perspectives from a range of brand owners.
There will be a break from 9:45 am - 10:15 am.
