Scott became President of GPI in August 2019 and in this role he represents glass container manufacturers and their supply chain partners. Scott has spearheaded a number of glass recycling-focused initiatives promoting a circular economy for glass in the U.S. Scott immediately became involved with the Glass Recycling Coalition on its leadership committee and in 2020, was elected to the Board President of the Glass Recycling Foundation. He previously served as VP of Government and Regulatory Affairs for the Plastics Industry Association, where he advanced a new sustainability advocacy agenda to upgrade the U.S. domestic recycling infrastructure. Prior to PLASTICS, Scott had leadership positions with the National Restaurant Association and Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. Scott has divided his 30+ year career in Washington between trade associations, Capitol Hill, where he worked on energy, environment, economic and financial issues for several Members of Congress, including House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer; and state government, starting in the Texas Senate, Texas Governor Ann Richards, and the National Conference of State Legislatures. Scott is from Houston, Texas, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in Communications and Public Affairs, and resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife and son.Sessions
