Jim Olson holds the title of Vice President, Safety and has over twenty years of professional safety and environmental experience. He has worked in the solid waste industry, transportation industry, and printing industry. His responsibilities have focused on field EH&S management and EH&S program development and implementation. In his current role at Republic, Jim is responsible for developing a strong safety culture and for safety program execution and performance in the field.
Jim has a wide breadth of organizational and industry safety knowledge and leads a team of 4 employees in the Corporate office along with providing direction to 50 field safety managers and trainers. As a business partner for functional groups across the Company, he ensures safety is always our top priority.
In addition to his work at Republic, Jim serves as the vice-chair and board member for the American Red Cross Greater Phoenix Chapter and is active in the National Sold Waste Management Association as Chair Emeritus of the Safety Committee. He also is a member of the Governing Board for Together for Safer Roads, a coalition of private companies working together to make the world’s roads safer for all people. Jim holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stout and has completed numerous certification programs in Safety and Environment programs at Arizona State University.
