Jay is President and CEO of the California Foundation on the Environment and the Economy, a non-profit 501c3 that convenes high level conferences and worldwide study travel projects for the state’s legislators and regulatory officers. He served four California Assembly Speakers as Special Assistant, followed by ten years as the Chief Lobbyist and Political Director for the California Building Trades, AFL-CIO and then eight years with the California Medical Association as Chief Strategy Officer. A graduate of Occidental College with a Masters from USC, Jay also was elected President of the Sacramento School Board and served six years. He is the Senate appointee to the California Tahoe Conservancy and resides in Sacramento and San Francisco with his husband Jesse.
