Kim Braun has more than 30 years’ experience in Waste Management and Environmental Sustainability. Until retirement in December 2021, Kim was employed with the City of Culver City for five (5) years as the Environmental Programs and Operations Manager. Kim was responsible for managing the trash, recycling and organic waste collection operations for all of the residential and commercial businesses citywide. As manager, Kim implemented the organics waste collections program to include food waste for all single family residents and commercial businesses . Kim was responsible for an annual enterprise fund budget of $ 17M, and established rates for waste collection for both residents and businesses .
For twenty (20) years, Kim was employed with the City of Santa Monica, beginning as the Materials Recovery Superintendent in 1997 and promoted to the Resource Recovery and Recycling Manager in 2009. Kim was responsible for the trash, recycling and organics collections programs for both residents and businesses citywide. As manager Kim was responsible for a $ 25M enterprise fund budget and established rates for all of the waste management operations.
Kim is currently President of Braun Consulting Services, assisting municipalities, counties and businesses with State mandated reporting, sustainability planning, implementing recycling, organics and food recovery programs as well as writing grant applications, contracts, agreements and other administrative needs.
