Profile

Dr. Lisa Barona McRoberts established her custom couture business in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in April of 1999. Having completed her undergraduate studies at LSU and couture specialization at the House of LeSage in Paris, France, she focused on evening, bridal and debutante gowns, as well as several Mardi Gras royal courts. She returned to LSU and completed a master's degree, interned at Vera Wang bridal. Then she completed her doctorate in apparel design at Florida State University. She developed an educational tutorial demonstrating the process of working with grade 3 alligator hide and has received numerous awards and honors for her design and educational achievements.

Upon her return to the division of Textile Science, Apparel Design and Merchandising at LSU as a graduate faculty member and assistant professor in apparel design, she has been invited into several juried exhibitions including the Queen Sirikit Institute of Sericulture Peacock Standard of Thai Silk Design Competition in Thailand. She has also exhibited her sustainable textile design work at the International Surface Design Association Conference Exhibition. Additionally, she serves as the chair of the design jury committee for the International Textiles and Apparel Association.

During her employment at LSU she has developed a course focused on creativity and mentored an array of apparel design students in juried competitions nationally. Her design interests include couture techniques and sustainability. She co-designed and created Mrs. Supriya Jindal's, The First Lady of Louisiana, ballgown for her husband’s, Governor Bobby Jindal’s inauguration ceremony. She represented LSU and the Louisiana Alligator Advisory Council in Beijing, China and at Dallas Career Day Competition, to judge the eco-gator category she established, as well as served as a judge for New Orleans Fashion Week’s Top Designer Competition.
