Aftyn Giles is a Pittsburgh native holding degrees in Architecture and International Relations and Graduate Degrees in Sustainable Design and Project Management.
Ms. Giles is the City of Pittsburgh’s Principal Sustainability Planner, a position that she has held with the City since 2011.
As a Principal Planner focused on sustainability and resilience, Ms. Giles coordinates with City and community leaders to resolve areas of environmental, operational, and equitable neighborhood and facility performance. Using her knowledge of sustainable design and skills as a project manager, she coordinates strategies on annual projects to improve quality of life services for Pittsburgh residents, municipal facilities Pittsburgh’s environmental landscape, and City of Pittsburgh employees; reports on program progress with internal and external stakeholders; leverages funding and grant opportunities; drafts policies and procedures and conducts training activities as part of City workforce and community development programs; represents the City at public assemblies; and assist with performance upgrades within the City’s portfolio of 300 facilities and 90 neighborhoods.
