Profile

Mr. Schmucker, an environmental, geotechnical engineer, with over 39 years of solid waste related experience with construction &amp; demolition debris, and solid waste landfills, composting facilities, transfer stations, solid waste resource recovery projects, landfill gas collection and energy generation projects, and construction quality control since 1982 at over 50 landfills in 23 different States. Mr. Schmucker is currently Vice President of Engineering &amp; Environmental Affairs for Clark-Floyd Landfill, LLC. He has worked in the private sector as both an environmental and solid waste consultant, a Division Engineer for the second largest solid waste collection and disposal company, and as the Corporate Director of Engineering and Environmental Affairs for one of the largest privately owned solid waste companies in the United States. Mr Schmucker obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Akron in 1984 and his Masters of Science in Geotechnical Engineering from The University of Akron in 1987. In 1994 he received the Innovative Environmental Solution Award from Browning Ferris Industries, Inc. for his work on using pulverized glass as an alternative drainage material to natural occurring sands and gravels for leachate collection zones in sanitary landfills. In addition, Ohio EPA selected Mr. Schmucker to develop a Landfill Operators Training and Certification program for the State of Ohio in 1994. Mr. Schmucker currently serves as the Board of Governor representative for the Ohio Chapter of National Waste and Recycling Association and previously served as the Vice-Chairman for the Ohio Chapter of NWRA for 24 years, and has been honored by NWRA in 2007 with a Special Governors Award and in 2020 received Member of the Year recognition.
