KEITH Introduces Long-Lasting, Versatile J-MAX™ Floor

KEITH Manufacturing Co. has worked to adapt its proven WALKING FLOOR® technology to the needs of haulers.  The latest invention for the company’s trailer unloader is the steel, “J-MAX” floor slat for highly abrasive materials. The new slat provides the versatility to haul a wide variety of materials, including municipal solid waste, salt, mulch and glass.

The new J-MAX™ steel floor system is designed for longer wear when unloading abrasive material. A key benefit of the J-MAX™ floor is the product diversity that operators can unload. The ability to back haul can double the efficiency of your trailer. Installing a floor slat that handles a variety of materials is an advantage.

Constructed of roll formed high strength steel, the J-MAX™ floor system has a longer slat life than standard aluminum flooring. The unique “J”-shaped seal reduces material from sifting through the floor, making it a good choice for hauling sand, gravel and wood waste.

Trailers equipped with KEITH® WALKING FLOOR® systems offer several advantages, including fast unloading and the ability to unload without tipping. A series of hydraulically driven floor slats horizontally “walk” material out the rear of the trailer, providing a safer unloading system than dump trailers.

In addition to the J-MAX™ floor, KEITH offers a variety of slat profiles, including aluminum IMPACT designs and the rugged V-FLOOR® system. Factors such as material abrasion, how the trailer will be loaded and if the trailer needs to support forklift traffic should be considered when choosing a flooring type.

KEITH Manufacturing Co. is located in Madras, OR where it produces the WALKING FLOOR® brand of unloading systems. Systems are used in a variety of industries internationally to handle bulk and palletized materials. The company designs, machines, fabricates and assembles nearly 100 percent of the components used in its WALKING FLOOR® systems at its facility in central Oregon. KEITH has sold more than 60,000 units around the globe and holds over 270 patents.

KEITH CleenSweep® System: Keeping Drivers Safe

An aging workforce presents several challenges for the transport industry, including preventing injuries that can significantly impact drivers' lives. Some haulers still require drivers to enter trailers to manually clean them out, putting them at risk of falling or being buried by the load.

That's where the KEITH® CleenSweep® tarp system comes in. This innovative solution automates the trailer clean-out process, keeping drivers safe and out of harm's way. The CleenSweep® system is ideal for bulk, flowable loads such as mulch, wood products and agricultural materials.

    Here's how it works:

    • The CleenSweep® tarp system is installed in conjunction with a KEITH® WALKING FLOOR® self-unloading system.
    • As the trailer unloads, the CleenSweep® tarp "sweeps" out residual material.
    • The tarp is powered by a winch system and extends down the inside of the trailer.
    • The load rests on top of the tarp, pulling it along the floor as the WALKING FLOOR® system unloads.
    • Once unloading is complete, the CleenSweep® tarp is retracted at the push of a button.

Benefits of the KEITH® CleenSweep® tarp system:

    • Increased driver safety: Eliminates the need for drivers to enter the trailer, reducing the risk of falls and injuries.
    • Improved productivity: Drivers can get back on the road faster, as the CleenSweep® tarp system is up to ten minutes faster than sweeping with a broom.
    • Minimized payload cross-contamination: A clean trailer helps prevent the transfer of materials from one load to the next.
    • Reduced labor costs: The automated system eliminates the need for manual cleaning.
    • Versatile: Available in electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic versions to meet your specific needs.

For more than 50 years, KEITH Manufacturing Co. has provided a variety of industries with reliable and innovative WALKING FLOOR® technology. For more information on KEITH® WALKING FLOOR® products and its international locations, visit booth #1640 or http://www.keithwalkingfloor.com/.

  • Boost Material Handling Efficiency
KEITH® WALKING FLOOR® conveyors provide a cost effective, low maintenance solution to fuel receiving/storage/handling requirements....

  • Versatility is key in maintaining efficient and economical operations at Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF). Live-bottom bins outfitted with KEITH WALKING FLOOR® systems can receive, store and meter recyclables, streamlining material flow. This “moving floor” unloader is made of a series of floor slats, which are powered by a hydraulic drive. As the floor cycles through its phases, material is conveyed, often to takeaway conveyors and on to a baler.

Located side-by-side these bins can be installed under sorting lines to store separated recyclables until they are ready for processing. Because the speed of the WALKING FLOOR® conveyor can be regulated, the risk of overloading or damaging the takeaway conveyor is reduced.

KEITH® WALKING FLOOR® systems are designed to suit each facility’s needs. They are custom engineered to handle loads of nearly unlimited tonnage. Material can be unloaded directly into the bin, even when the floor is operating.
